East to Priest Lake

Jeff and I joined his family for their yearly camping trip at Priest Lake this week. It's a long drive which we've done often and it can be disappointing when the weather is gray. But this year, it was beautiful almost the entire time.

Wheat fields in eastern Washington.

In Jeff's family, Priest Lake is where their best childhood memories were made. It is a classic northwest lake, with pristine waters and green vistas. The beaches are sandy and the water is cold. It is large and deeply forested enough to always offer some mystery and room to explore.

There were about 35 folks off and on, enjoying a very special vacation. Traditions were fulfilled and passed on to another generation of swimmers and s'more eaters.

This is a magnificent way to end the day.
