I was touched to see this memorial sitting at the edge of the Lake Washington Ship Canal just where the Burke Gilman Trail meets the Salmon Bay Sand and Gravel Company. A reminder to appreciate every day. I found this online from "The Officer Down Memorial Page Remembers . . ."

Officer Jackson Lone drowned when he fell as he attempted to secure a drifting tugboat.
Officer Lone's partner immediately dove in and located him. CPR was performed, rescue units transported him to Harborview Medical Center where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
Officer Jackson Lone was an 18 year veteran of the department and had been assigned to the harbor patrol unit for 5 years. His wife and 18-month-old son survive him.
