Puerto Vallarta, The Church of Our Lady of Guadalupe

Puerto Vallarta has a small square (zocalo) but a large church, known locally as La Iglesia de Nuestra Senora de Guadalupe. It gracefully towers over the center of the town. It was started in the early 1900's and rebuilt after earthquakes in the 90's. The gilded crown is a replica of the crown worn by Carlota, empress of Mexico in the 1860s, decorated with eight angels holding hands.
